Staffin hosts the most impressive collection of Scottish dinosaur remains. THEY have been found in the Jurassic rocks on this coast. Here you can COMPARE your own footprint with the dinosaur footprints. GUESS which Jurassic footprint is that of the ornithopod discovered at Brothers Point in 1982. LOOK out for the giant footprint of a carnivorous dinosaur, found at An Corran, another Ceumannan site. Several of the actual prints are visible there, although frequently covered by sand. The worlds smallest DINOSAUR footprint was also discovered locally in 2004. The original is to be seen in the Hunterian Museum in Glasgow but you will find a replica in the Staffin Museum nearby.

"Nuair a bha mi na mo dheugaire, bhithinn a faicinn lorgan nan dneasair air na clachan, ach aig an m sin cha robh mi cinnteach d bha na lorgan a ciallachadh. S ann anns na 1970an a smaoinich mi gur e an aon rud s a bha mi fhn air fhaicinn nam ige. Is e oileanaich clach-elais a dhearbh an toiseach gur e lorgan dhneasair a bha annta. Is ann an 1994 a chaidh an drna rud a lorg fosail cetiosaurus an triop seo. Is e latha mr a bha sin dhmhsa agus dhan t-saoghal mhr. Is e tionndadh na mo bheatha a bha ann. Thug seo an cothrom dhomh slighe eile a ghabhail leis an taigh-tasgaidh agam. Rud a b iongantaiche a thachair nam obair, is e an latha a fhuair mi lraichean-coise il ig de dhneasairean a leanail am prantan fianais a tha air leth ainneamh ann an saoghal an elais seo."
